Garment Etiquitte
You are responsible for the all of things that you wear or touch at a job. Here are a few Do’s and Don’ts of things that will get you into trouble. Anytime you don’t return clothes in the exact condition you may be facing a dry cleaning bill or a pay deduction. Or even worse never working with that client again. If you ever have a discrepancy with a client be sure that you are the first person to tell your agent.
Do be very gentle with all clothes when trying them on or shooting.
Be conscious of deodorant. It leaves stains if it is white or clear. Deodorant will not come out of delicate fabrics like silk.
If you are fitting for clothes do no wear perfume or sparkly lotion.
Wear minimal lotion that has no scent or coloring.
Ask the designer/stylist/store rep the correct way to wear a garment. Some pieces are complicated.
Ask for help with buttons or likewise.
When finished shooting/showing a piece personally return it to the and make sure the stylist knows that you gave it back in good condition.
Don’t sit around in clothes and sweat. Sweat kills fabric. If you’re at a fashion show or long shoot. Only get dresses at the last minute to avoid sweating.
GLITTER is NOT your friend.
Anything that has a scent will cling to clothes.
Try not to let the designer see you try things on. If they see you pulling or stretching something it will give them a small heart attack.
Put on/ take off your own accessories. You may break them or snag them on the clothes or your hair.
Pull on zippers or clasps, breaking hard wear is a BAD idea.
Get make up or hair product on clothes. Always bring a hanging hood. This keeps the MUA and Designer from wanting to beat you with a stick.
