Fashionable Complexions

June30

After recently burning myself at Sea World , I thought I would take the time to point out the importance of sunscreen.  Your skin is the largest organ you have and as a model the most important.  At one time pale skin was just as trendy as bronze skin is now.  As a former sufferer of sunless winters I know it can be tempting to tan indoors.  It’s not worth looking like an old shoe or dealing with skin cancer later.  Now that I live in southern California in an abundance of radiant sunshine it’s hard to get away from it.  I hide in my apartment from the sun.

When shooting fashion for a living it’s very important to keep a light even complexion.  If a client wants a tan model you can get sprayed.  When I did bikini contest in Detroit I always got a mystic tan the day before the event.  You will be darker and more even than with actual tanning.

These are a few thing you should do daily to keep a fashionable complexion.

SPF of atleast 15.  Your face especially needs it.  After applying to your face wipe the excess on the backs of your hands.  BE sure to apply efore you leave the house and pay special attention to the backs of knees and shoulders.  Keep a tube everywhere, car, purse, house, office, ect.

Sunglasses  are very important.  They preserve eyesight and protect against premature aging and cancer.  The corners of your eyes are very susceptible to skin cancer and one of the most overlooked areas.  Crows feet are the least of your worries when it come to eye protection.

Protective Clothing is essential to skin health.  It’s not so fun to be piled under clothes but try breezy fabrics like linen or 100% cotton.  Some pieces even have a protective UV coating.  You’ll never regret not getting a sun burn or ugly tan lines.

Hair and scalp shouldn’t be overlooked.  If you have a part in your hair you should put solid sunscreen over it.  Your hair itself can be damaged and dried to the point of breakage out by the sun.  Department store cosmetic counters have sun sprays just for hair.  It’s important if your hair color treated or naturally dry.

Vitamin E oil and sprays can be a life savor if your skin does come in contact with the sun.  Pure vitamin E oil has serious healing power when applied to burns or use as an eye cream.  Vitamin E not only feels very refreshing but repairs and revitalizes the skin.
