I’ve always said that a MUA that puts brown eyeshadow on me is my biggest pet peeve, which is true. However, a person that is incompetent of doing their job or who over steps their bounds is cause for me to come unglued. The world has a place for everybody and everybody has a place. Do exactly what is required of you and get the hell out of other people way. Unfortunately, running into crazy people is inevitable. Know who you are, what you’re there to do and execute. When working in a professional environment, being on task is key. Don’t slack on your duties to interrupt somebody else’s business. Be concerned with your own responsibilities before you decide to “help” others. In the event that you have finished your duties ahead, ask if there is anything you can do to help out.
In case you didn’t know telling professionals how to do their job with or with out doing your own is bad form. Be apart of a team, not apart of the problem. I may be sounding like a captain obvious here, trust me there are people who can’t even begin to comprehend these major etiquette factors. Most importantly, don’t inject yourself into anothers creativity or space. It will not help the end product, which after all is the goal of the day.
Other things to NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PARTAKE IN WHILE WORKING.
1.) be impolite in anyway. Not introducing or greeting others is a big faux pas
2.) trust that somebody else will clean up after you. Before, during or after working.
3.) even entertain the idea of alcohol, drugs or even let people see you smoke
4.) most importantly never lose your cool. Keep it together at all times, DRAMA IS NOT CLASSY.
On May 3rd I managed to get out of a meeting on time for once to see the premiere of Scott Caan’s film Mercy. Scott wrote and stared in this “little film” as the director Patrick Hoelck called it. A surreal love story. It was beautifully shot and the silver screen at the Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Blvd, made it even more beautiful. It opens next week at little theater by the Crunch Gym on Sunset and Crescent Heights. Lots of great actors worked on this James Caan Dylan McDermott, Erika Christainson, Wendy Glenn, Troy Garity. I also saw Dax Shepard getting popcorn. I was very happy for Scott and his film even though we were supposed to work together on a film and he backed out. If you’re a fan of cinematography see this film, it’s shot so beautifully. I would label the storyline as comedy turned tragic, if that makes sense. The most disappointing part was that the popcorn wasn’t free and free popcorn is the only reason I go to premieres. The after party was at the Roosevelt Hotel just down the street. Don Julio Tequila sponsored the evening and it was fabulous and felt like old Hollywood. Everybody knows you can enter the Roosevelt hotel
I’m in Tokyo again, but I will be back in LA on the 15th. I have been meaning to write a post on my outlook for the spring quarter but between being sworn to secrecy and just not wanting to Jinx myself it hasn’t happened yet. I have about 7 films on my plate. In addition to that big box of scripts that need financing.. I have met lots of cool new friends over the award show season and have made a resolution to be more social than I was before. Expect more shopping related things as the shopping page is still under construction. LA fashion starts March 17th. I have my list for all of the parties and events. I have a few new project ideas that I’m trying to get inspiration from fashion week on.
RachelMullins.com will be getting a little face lift soon if you have yet to visit the portfolio page it looks a little different. Before leaving for Japan I worked and a couple cool projects. I worked on a friends movie called A Girl Walks Into A Bar with Emmanuelle Chirqui and Zachary Quinto. I had a good time working on this film because the story was so crazy and the cast and crew were all loads of fun. A partially nude game of ping pong with a room full of people you have never met was a good time. My homie Adam Rifkin introduced me to the director Sebastian Guitteriez. Unfortunately I missed a 3 day booking on NCIS because everybody feels the need for me to work when I’m out of the country.
I’m super excited for my upcoming travel plans. Hawaii again but this time Maui then Greece to shoot with all of the sexy people and of course my life dream the Canne Film Festival in France. I have been wanting to go to Canne for years and it’s been a dream of mine for a while. Overall I’m very excieted about where things are headed and I already have so much to do. I’m happy to have things moving in my preferred direction. After sorting out some agent issues, there may be even more on my plate soon.
While sadly missing the Grammy Awards in LA on the 31st I was on a very long stupid flight to Milan. After, the wonderful Delta airlines lost a carry on bag. that had all of my coats in it. I arrived in freezing Milan. I have not seen snow in nearly 2 years, it’s kind of scary.
I had a couple photo shoots and meeting between Milan and Rome. Italians are fairly easy to work with however flaky at times. I had a bit of a language barrier as I don’t speak a word of Italian but I can read it for some reason. It was a bit to cold to shoot outdoors in Italy. My indoor shots were a great a experience as I don’t have to freeze and work at the same time. Returning in warmer months is a possibility. I met some cool people and Italian fashion is great, after all they did give us Dolce and Gabanna and Gucci.
There will be TONS of videos and pictures of my global shopping endeavors. I’m trying to come up with some sort of a label game. Links to my online auctions for my shopping finds and my gently used award show attire. I’m trying to get this new page together to be just as functional as my modeling advice blog. I’m learning the editing software for my new video camera. My goal for the shopping page overall is to post weekly and bi-weekly videos of my shopping adventures. Including shopping for travel, shopping while I’m traveling, buying award show evening wear and my everyday shopping addiction.
In my book there are 2 seasons. Award Show season and House Party Season. Naturally, I excel in both environments. The Emmy awards in September are the preview of whats to come for the rest of award show season. For some reason this year has been a challenge for the event planners. All of the dates for award shows have been overlapping and running together, like a bad marble cake. The prime time Emmy’s and The VMA’s were originally slated for the same night but the Emmys backed down because MTV had Kanye West do their dirty work with little Taylor Swift playing along. January 2010 is the holy grail of award shows.
The start of this madness is the Peoples Choice awards on Jan 6th. I will not be attending the People Choice because I can’t make it to the carpet by 4. If you with to go, tickets are available to the public at www.ticketmaster.com However I will be attending the premier of Youth & Revolt at the Mann Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Of course I will be at the after parties for both the award show and the premier.
Fallowed by The 15th Annual Critic Choice Awards, January 15th. I had an absolute blast at the after party for the critic choice awards last year. It was one of the great nights that still a little bit fuzzy. Critic Choice is one of my top favorites because its a small elite award show and only the best of the best come through for a killer after party.
2 Days later the Super Sexy Golden Globes with be broadcasting live to both coasts from the Beverly Hilton. I hope they clean the place up before then because I was there for an Oscar benefit last year and it needed some work and the food was terrible.
Jan 23rd, we have the oh so prestigious Sag Awards. If your a SAG member you can get tickets. If not then good luck. Maybe I should joining before then??? Anyway the Shrine Auditorium is kinda small. BET usually uses the Shrine for their events because its a cheaper venue. This event was slated for Jan 31st but again those damn party planners can’t get together to see what everybodies soiree calendar looks like.
The Grammy Awards won the battle for January 31st sadly I will be in Milan mourning the fact that I can’t get back to my 3rd row center seats that I had last year. I guess Carrie Underwood wont have trouble seeing around my huge dress this year and I wont miss Soulja Boy and his anticks at the Grammy gifting suite
The Sundance Film Festival is also the last week of January in Park City, Utah. I may slide through there for the first weekend to say hello to some friends and do some ice skating..
Academy Awards on March 27th at Kodak in Hollywood is late this year because of the Olympics Broadcast. The road to the Oscars this year will be a long one. Then a drunken road to Vanity Fair that night for the conclusion of 2010 award show season. This leads into house party season because Prince and Elton Jon have the do all be all of house parties on Oscar night.. Hopefully everybody will be on pointe about who they let in because nobody wants to get shut down like the Slumdog party did last year.
I haven’t been blogging so much as I have had to keep tight lipped on some recent events. I have just completed the filming stage of a project I have been working on for about 6 months. After the airing of Shopping Addicts on the WE channel I gave this new project my full attention. Keeping in touch with the Executive Producer of Secret Lives of Women for a year. Her and I had been kicking around ideas to elaborate on Shopping addicts. As I do have an addiction to fashion that I love this had made great sense to me. My designer friends and clients have been such a great support to my little project and my biggest cheerleaders. My publicist has also been a great help in the behind the scenes efforts to make this vision come to fruition. I’m very pleased with the outcome thus far and the final stages of post production are the home stretch. My manager will be laying th e pathway to be able to shop the projects to the networks by the second week of January to keep ahead of pilot season.
I can’t yet say what it is but I think it will be great and if the world see’s a finished product I think it will be very helpful to many people. I have cumniated 9 years in the fashion industry into this so with luck it will be a new take on how fashion and the real world can co exisit.
This winter is crazy for me. Thank god because last winter was awful. I have been so busy working, I had 2 shoots today and a Pre American Music Awards Party. November has flown by. My 21st birthday came and went. Next week is Thanksgiving and there is so much work to be done right now. The 1st week of December I will be in Paris visiting my designer friends who are helping me with the pilot for the TV show I wrote along with various shoots and meetings. I have been reading french Vogue and Glamour magazines to brush up on my french. The 2nd week of December I will be filming my pilot and may headed to NYC for WWW.Iwillnotlose.org charity gala. I’m on a tight schedule with my pilot because I have to have it ready and packaged by the first week of January to shop to the networks.
I have 7 scripts to read. Three of which are financed other need money. So if anybody out there would like to make a 100,000,000 or 2 let me know. All A-list cast attached to every script I have so the money will fallow soon.
January will be 100 miles a minute. There is an award show every weekend along with Sundance Film Festival. I can’t wait to go to Sundance this year. Except, I’m not quite ready for the snow. By the time spring arrives I will seriously need a vacation as I’m exhausted all ready.
Every season GEN ART holds the Fresh Faces of Fashion in all of the GEN ART markets. I attended the one in Los Angeles at the Automotive museum. Several up and coming designers showcased their collections. This is the first fashion show I have ever attended with out walking in the show.
Yendecker Los Angeles Fashion Show
I was late to the event because I was shooting for runway magazine. However, I did see four shows. My favorite being Rory Becca. Her pieces were all unique but still adhered to the seasons trends. An amazing men’s collection showed and was a very big surprise to everyone. Tons of the crazy crazy hair and make-up. Big crimped hair, super spiked hair, blacked out make up and super nude matte lips. Fallowed by a not so hott after party. HUGE gift bags!! To much stuff for me to cart around. If you ever attend a GEN ART event, get there early the parking is insane.
At a private estate in Bell Air, CA LA Confidential magazine hosted an amazing evening celebration of Heidi Klums latest cover. She was so amazing looking and to be in her third trimester of her 5th pregnancy. Heidi is an amazing model and I hope that one day I have a fraction of the talent and ambiance that she has. I wish her and her new baby a happy and healthy start together.
