Due to laziness I didn’t make it to the award ceremony bu true to form I did make it to the Interscope after party at mr chows. Mr. Chows is an amazing restaurant but its freaking tiny. Making for a very cramped party Everybody that was at the award show went to this party. Luda cris, Keri Hilson, Diddy, Dr. Dre, and way more that I can remember. The gift bag was great! In my opinion nirvana is reached through a gift bag. A comped massage, moisturizer, a magazine, Geffen records M&M’s, and more Ed Hardy stuff that I will be giving away. Ludacris gave a bottle of his new Conjure Cognac. I had a great time and made some new friends. After the interscope party I went to a smaller party across the street where I met my friend Surai and we went to Barry’s pizza on 3rd at 4am and it was PACKED…. Maybach’s and Rolls Royce’s filled the valet. It took an hour and a half just to get in and another 3 minutes to get a table. DMx did come sit next to me so all in all an interesting night.
The beauty Expo is maybe one of the most fun trade shows I have ever attended. The had every sort of product within hair, nails, cosmetics even spa treatment and plastic surgery products. If you’re looking for deals on products and beauty tools get your self to a beauty trade show. I bought real human hair eyelashes for a dollar per pair. Gel eyeliner for $3 and two make up brushes for $3. Even if you’re not in the beauty industry any girl would LOVE this kind of show. If you’re thinking of attending beauty school of any kind I would highly recommend a trade show to visit lots of beauty school instructors and students in a very short amount of time.
Crossing one more thing off my bucket list this year by hitting the Cannes Film Festival. Cannes holds the most prestigious film festival of the year and all of the entertainment industry moves with it. A week and a half of non stop films, parties, and more parties. I’m not even sure how many days I spent there because it all ran together because I may have slept about 6 hours the whole trip. French people are serious about three things smoking, fashion and parties. All of which are included in the festival in Cannes.
After my 18 hour flight to Nice, I got on the bus to Cannes. The Bus drops you off right at the Palais in the thick of everything. I found this quite a tease because I had to go back to my hotel and drop off my load of luggage before I could come back to the festival. I couldn’t risk any of my luggage getting lost because I had so many events to hit while I was there so my carry on bags were bursting at the seems.
It took what seemed like an eternity to find a cab to my hotel. I almost cried, it was that bad. Sharpening my “Franglais” My friend Angela Cullins had already checked into the day before. True to French form the bathroom was flooded and leaked into the hallway. I slipped and landed on the floor and my luggage then burst as I expected. Again I almost cried. Angelas film in which she Co – Starred opposite Cory Haim was set to Premiere at the festival in and hour and a half and I was laying on the floor in a pool of water and a plethora of Gucci belts, Prada shoes and cocktail dresses. I quickly showered and put my game face on. I found half a croissant in the refrigerator and took it with me. When I got to the Palais it was a mess and jumping with people. Dinner was Escargot and that’s about all I remember.
Beach Pavilions behind Le Palais
No matter what country I’m in I wake up at 830am. I got my outfit together and did my hair. Took myself to the supermarket down the street for my favorite french hairspray and tanning oil. I also bought orangina, and fruit and vegetables. The hotel had a shuttle that runs to the festival and back every half hour. Le Croisette is a huge boulevard that runs forever along the water by the festival. All of life in Cannes is centered around it. I had to go shopping some more and find a place to exchange more money. The Euro is supposed to be getting weaker against the dollar but I wasn’t feeling it this trip. Euro doesn’t even feel like money. I like the American green much more. As I was passing the film office outside the marina and Angela found me on the street in passing by. We went to get our passes for the day at the office. We had tickets for a Canadian Film, My Name is Sandy. This little film struck a cord with me. It was about a French street hooker living in NYC. It was supposed to be a very serious dramatic film but I thought it was the funniest thing I had seen in a long time. There were stabs at the New York senators and racial profiling that made me nearly fall out of my chair. It actually inspired me to make a short about all types of hoes. The people who made it were very talented students and I was very impressed by the sound track.
After changing after lunch we headed back to the parties for the evening. When in Cannes there is a certain flow of daily and nightly activities. The morning you get your Cannes Market News to see whats playing and who is around. Step two get your day look together and find your way to the Palais. Step three, start drinking. Usually champagne because there is TONS of it flowing from everything. If you’re going to see a movie or not, hit the Pavilions situated around the marina and water. You have to have a Festival pass so it’s not just anybody strolling through. Every country and other major companies(like Kodak ect.) have a pavilion with drinks and Internet cafes and info on the films from that country that are showing. The American Pavilion even had a lecture hall with guest speakers. Some have full bars and restaurants others are a little less equipped.
The Chile Pavilion seemed to be the destination for happy hour or the Producers tent was another great place to meet people. After happy hour everybody disperses for dinner then after dinner its party time till whenever you fall over board or wander home. Yacht parties in Cannes are like nothing you have ever seen. 60 and 75 foot yachts look like bath toys. Essentially if your yacht isn’t at least 150 feet, don’t even get in the water. Dolce an Gabbana had their yacht the Regina D’Italia there. The Chopard Party was hosted on Xanadu.

May 15th was the annual stars and stripes party to benefit wounded veterans. I will say out of all the playboy mansion parties I have been too this was my second favorite. Besides the 3 guys who decided to beat each other to the ground between the grotto bar and the gym/ bathrooms. Everybody had a good time that I talked too and that was a lot of people. As far as I know the art auction went well. Victoria Fuller was there with her art. Hef flew in late night with his only girlfriend Crystal Harris from the playmate of the year party in Las Vegas. Crystal Harris has a new lip gloss and glitter line that was demo’d at the party. Huge vases of glitter everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE!! As always Vern Troyer was the life of the Party. His handler causes problems but we won’t get into that. Lil Kim was supposed to host the party but I didn’t see her at all that night. However what I did see was a TON of people in the Grotto. Never once have I seen the grotto so fucking packed with people, but mostly guys. A bit classier than last ears stars and stripes party.
We did after hours at Avalon in Hollywood till 5 am. Erik Morillo was the DJ and the house was packed till 6am. A girl got carried out on a strecher but the party kept moving. A green laser man on stilts was about the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while in a club.
On May 3rd I managed to get out of a meeting on time for once to see the premiere of Scott Caan’s film Mercy. Scott wrote and stared in this “little film” as the director Patrick Hoelck called it. A surreal love story. It was beautifully shot and the silver screen at the Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Blvd, made it even more beautiful. It opens next week at little theater by the Crunch Gym on Sunset and Crescent Heights. Lots of great actors worked on this James Caan Dylan McDermott, Erika Christainson, Wendy Glenn, Troy Garity. I also saw Dax Shepard getting popcorn. I was very happy for Scott and his film even though we were supposed to work together on a film and he backed out. If you’re a fan of cinematography see this film, it’s shot so beautifully. I would label the storyline as comedy turned tragic, if that makes sense. The most disappointing part was that the popcorn wasn’t free and free popcorn is the only reason I go to premieres. The after party was at the Roosevelt Hotel just down the street. Don Julio Tequila sponsored the evening and it was fabulous and felt like old Hollywood. Everybody knows you can enter the Roosevelt hotel
In my book there are 2 seasons. Award Show season and House Party Season. Naturally, I excel in both environments. The Emmy awards in September are the preview of whats to come for the rest of award show season. For some reason this year has been a challenge for the event planners. All of the dates for award shows have been overlapping and running together, like a bad marble cake. The prime time Emmy’s and The VMA’s were originally slated for the same night but the Emmys backed down because MTV had Kanye West do their dirty work with little Taylor Swift playing along. January 2010 is the holy grail of award shows.
The start of this madness is the Peoples Choice awards on Jan 6th. I will not be attending the People Choice because I can’t make it to the carpet by 4. If you with to go, tickets are available to the public at www.ticketmaster.com However I will be attending the premier of Youth & Revolt at the Mann Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Of course I will be at the after parties for both the award show and the premier.
Fallowed by The 15th Annual Critic Choice Awards, January 15th. I had an absolute blast at the after party for the critic choice awards last year. It was one of the great nights that still a little bit fuzzy. Critic Choice is one of my top favorites because its a small elite award show and only the best of the best come through for a killer after party.
2 Days later the Super Sexy Golden Globes with be broadcasting live to both coasts from the Beverly Hilton. I hope they clean the place up before then because I was there for an Oscar benefit last year and it needed some work and the food was terrible.
Jan 23rd, we have the oh so prestigious Sag Awards. If your a SAG member you can get tickets. If not then good luck. Maybe I should joining before then??? Anyway the Shrine Auditorium is kinda small. BET usually uses the Shrine for their events because its a cheaper venue. This event was slated for Jan 31st but again those damn party planners can’t get together to see what everybodies soiree calendar looks like.
The Grammy Awards won the battle for January 31st sadly I will be in Milan mourning the fact that I can’t get back to my 3rd row center seats that I had last year. I guess Carrie Underwood wont have trouble seeing around my huge dress this year and I wont miss Soulja Boy and his anticks at the Grammy gifting suite
The Sundance Film Festival is also the last week of January in Park City, Utah. I may slide through there for the first weekend to say hello to some friends and do some ice skating..
Academy Awards on March 27th at Kodak in Hollywood is late this year because of the Olympics Broadcast. The road to the Oscars this year will be a long one. Then a drunken road to Vanity Fair that night for the conclusion of 2010 award show season. This leads into house party season because Prince and Elton Jon have the do all be all of house parties on Oscar night.. Hopefully everybody will be on pointe about who they let in because nobody wants to get shut down like the Slumdog party did last year.
Every season GEN ART holds the Fresh Faces of Fashion in all of the GEN ART markets. I attended the one in Los Angeles at the Automotive museum. Several up and coming designers showcased their collections. This is the first fashion show I have ever attended with out walking in the show.
Yendecker Los Angeles Fashion Show
I was late to the event because I was shooting for runway magazine. However, I did see four shows. My favorite being Rory Becca. Her pieces were all unique but still adhered to the seasons trends. An amazing men’s collection showed and was a very big surprise to everyone. Tons of the crazy crazy hair and make-up. Big crimped hair, super spiked hair, blacked out make up and super nude matte lips. Fallowed by a not so hott after party. HUGE gift bags!! To much stuff for me to cart around. If you ever attend a GEN ART event, get there early the parking is insane.
At a private estate in Bell Air, CA LA Confidential magazine hosted an amazing evening celebration of Heidi Klums latest cover. She was so amazing looking and to be in her third trimester of her 5th pregnancy. Heidi is an amazing model and I hope that one day I have a fraction of the talent and ambiance that she has. I wish her and her new baby a happy and healthy start together.
The La Raza Awards honor Latino actors, actresses, singers and other personalities. The after party was held at Royce Hall at UCLA in Santa Monica and was mouy fabuloso!! Thanks to Eva Longoria’s spokesman-ship for L’Oreal Paris there were two make up artist touching up all the patrons with copious amounts of make up. They gave me a great touch up and 3 shades of their new “ 6 hour infallible lip plumber” and a big fat tube of mascara.
L'Oreal make up table
All of the Hispanic community was in attendance, Pitbull, Eva Longoria, George Lopez, Christina Agulara, David Archuletta, Kat DeLuna, Demi Lavato and a few others. I love the Spanish influence in the evening gowns lots of bright colored silk and everything that sparkles. The actual awards a very very heavy. I was able to hold one and that gold lady statue could double as a weapon.
This weekend was a whirlwind starting Thursday with the Transformers Fashion Party held Vice nightclub on Hollywood. After that Imade an appearance at sky-bar and Area. Area as always held a nice party with not so nice door men. Even from stopping at the gas station you could tell it was the preamble to BET Award weekend.
Friday was much more laid back but Saturday was CRAZY. It’s quite a challenge to party hop in L.A. The traffic and crowds are always a pain to deal with. The first stop of the night was to the Music Producers Ball in Downtown LA. They had a nice set up with a great DJ and of course a tribute to Micheal Jackson. The red carpet was small but useful. REDbull was a sponsor and have great promo gifts like cool glow sticks for drinks. I felt like I was at a Detroit party again but the place had walls and tables. I started to feel a bit nostalgic.
After a hot minute there we headed over to P. Diddy’s party at MY HOUSE nightclub on Hollywood. The crowd was crazy and its a big place. It pays to be on the owners guest list for sure. 100′s of people waiting outside surrounding the place trying to get in. On the way in we ran into Gorilla Zo and his homies. As it was already 130 when we showed up we left quickly to get a jump on the after party.
The after party was a private party at a huge house in the Hollywood hills. STUNNA liquor held this exclusive bash and did it well. There had all kinds of new flavors of alcohol to try. ALLHIPHOP.COM was there to document the evening. I think that party was my favorite through the night. I’m not one to drink often if at all and thair drinks were fabablous.
After all of that I poured myself into bed around 5 and got up the next morning for brunch at the 4 Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills with my friend April. They had a great spread of all different types of things to eat. There omlet and salad seceltion were my favoirte and their 101 desearts with geogous. The bloody mary bar looked to be the most popular thing there. Seating was great and we ran into Forrest Whitaker who sat next to us.
