This is the first draft of my book prologue it will be published in different words but carrying the same message.
While I do love my life. If you are interested in working in entertainment because its glamorous you’re wrong, stop reading and go be an accountant. Standing chest deep in the ocean at 4 am in december is not glamorous. Neither is eating bad catering or spending you’re day wasting gas on auditions you’re not going to book. Not everybody is qualified for every job. I have no business being a train engineer. Same goes with any aspect of entertainment. Im never one to preach creativity or artistic god given power. I have neither however I am over 5’8″, have correct bone structure in my nose cheeks and eyes and I fit into sample size.

There are a few things you need in your modeling armory. Proper undergarments being the most important. When I say nude I mean the color that matches your skin best

Bra’s – always have and bring to work a bra that can be regular, halter, strapless or one shoulder. Preferable one of the smooth ones in nude and black.

Under Pants – have nude seamless thongs at all times, also nude boy shorts are great for under skirts. DO NOT show up at a fitting or runway show without these. Commando brand is great for this.

Shape Wear and Nylons – at minimum you need 3 pieces of shape wear. A bust to knee length shaper in nude, I have a spanx one and its great. Also keeps you warm in cooler temperatures. Waist to thigh shaper. I have the shorts version in black and nude. These can also be bought in bikini style. As another option I have a black mesh body suit that I wear under sheer things or prices that are a little itchy. Control top nylons in various shades are a must. Do not get in front of a video camera with at the very least control top nylons on. I don’t care how skinny you are your diaphragm moves when you speak.

Saturday, I had a screen test for Fashion TV that went super well in my opinion. It was filmed in Beverly Park. We wont name names on who’s house it was because there is only one up there that gets used. It went smoothly as there were not that many girls that came. The whole team, DP, MUA and photographers were great and it was far less dramatic then the last time I went to the same house. We shot 3 segments that will be squeezed into a one minute clip that will be posted online for people to vote on. I will post my clip as soon as it comes out.

My new friends at Salon Duarte invited me to come in for a complimentary Keratase treatment. Salon Duarte happens to be in my favorite neighborhood, Franklin Park. Above the Birds restaurant hides this little salon. Besides the fact that the staff is incredibly talented, the great part of this salon is that its out of the way. I personally don’t like establishments that are in high traffic areas. Trendy doesn’t equate to great service or beauty treatments.Salon Duarte offers discount treatment packages and discounts for advanced bookibg and referrals.

Salon Duarte

My hair is seriously abused from all of the ironing and product manipulation that is a side effect of my line of work. Balancing my dry split ends with my healthy roots is a challenge. I don’t dy or process my hair so I’m not overly dammaged. Moving from VERY humid Michigan weather to SUPER dry LA weather has changed my hair compleatly.

The Keratease treatment made my hair look and feel amazing!!! There are 4 Keratase formulas that treat different hair issues. A 3 step process of shampooing, masking and a conditioning treatment transforms hair. The hair mask is the longest step. After apply the mask to freshly shampooed hair, the mask should be heated for 15 minutes. Cool hair then rinse. Fallowed by conditioner hair is like new. Eva Diaz is the head stylist and performed my Keratase trreatment along with her assistant Erica they hgave me the best blow dry I have had in my whole life. I was extreamly inpressed with their work. My hair was the best I have ever seen it and I have been working in fashion and beauty for 9 years.
