So when your career is based on looks you need to work out a lot and flex those muscles…… Right. There is another way to flex that muscle when it comes to booking work. I’ll admit I’m rather koi about things. When people ask me how I booked certain jobs I just say oh they called and asked. This isn’t a lie but they were provoked to call don’t get it twisted. Pay attention to who is on the project and see if you know somebody or know somebody that knows somebody. Even better if you know somebody who previously worked with somebody. This is more classified under the anteloping category but it will make sense later. If you don’t know what anteloping means you’re way behind in reading my blog go back and figure it out it’s a very important theory and practice. Now flexing that booking jobs muscle. I’m generally unsupportive of name dropping and never say anything that isn’t true. Warning if you lie about something ie that you worked on a project and in reality you didn’t. You never know who did and they may call you out on it.
Firstly, asses your assets and what you bring to the table besides obvious requirements. If this world was fueled by talent we wouldn’t be watching real housewives of dumb bitches or American idol. Now it can be something like helping with promo, connections, resources or any knowledge that is valuable to the client you want to work with. When I work trade shows for clients I do their twitter and make them YouTube videos. After the Cosomoprof show with Keratin Complex I was able to get them ranking on google for safe hair treatment. Movies, I’m extremely knowledgable with film festivals and getting other valuable people on board. I will do anything to promote my projects, including belly flopping on national tv on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Get your foot in the door with what they are asking for and plant yourself there by giving them what they need and you have.
Protect Your Wardrobe
After watching the “women’s right to shoes” episode of sex and the city. In short the part were our beloved SJP is required to remove her shoes outside a party. Between her silver monolo d’orsay peep toes and some other ladys bullshit sandals were both stolen by another mystery party guest. It conjured up a memory of why I made a work shoe rule. Back when I worked at Hooters we had to change into our uniforms at work. One day I was wear a pair of white key hole charles david wedges and an awful girl named Julia stole them. Ever since then I have been hyper vigulent of wardrobe theft. Now whenever I go to work I pull shoes from my special work shoe section. Every color I could need of shoes I don’t exactly care if anybody stole them. If somebody stole my prada platforms I would get arrested for strangling the nearest person. This goes for clothes as well. Don’t take anything you’re to attached to. Have specific things designated as work only.
On Camera With Janice Dickinson
So check this shit out.
Not to long ago I did an on camera interview for FilmOn.tv for a new swimwear show Janice Dickinson is working on. Have faith swimgerie has a new line of Brazilian bikinis that they are working on the campaign for. Janice Dickinson is the host of the show and it was great to meet her. I regularly see and hang out with every star in the world but I haven’t met many of my true idols which are designers and supermodels. I have met Heidi Klum at her La Confidential magazine party but that was ages ago.
Upon entering the interview I wore a green monokini that I had altered a bit. Janice told me I had a formal wedgie and I should fix it. We then agreed it was called a moose knuckle. She a loud lady but that’s her thing. I did a walk that she liked, told me I needed to work out more. Which she would probably say to everybody. Followed by “fuck those skinny bitches”! The best part of the whole thing was while flipping through the pages of my book she instructed the dp to get a close up of my book and uttered my favorite words “do you see this, this is what a models book is supposed to look like”. Really it made my week. Shout out to the ladies who were doing it before us!
Jimmy Kimmel Live
Last week my good friend Eddie Barojas called to ask me to do a belly flop on the Jimmy Kimmel show which thank god is not actually live. At first I wasn’t very into the idea because drawing attention to my belly on national tv didn’t sound flattering. However, my love of days that make for good stories IE blogging material; worked on overcoming my belly flopping fears.
We were supposed to be there at 6 for paper work and jumping by 7. The jumping by 7 didn’t go as planned. There were at least 14 people that they were going to have jump. Which didn’t happen there were 6 at best. Of course Edddie won and was dubbed the “Micheal Jordan of belly flopping” by Jimmy Kimmel. His trophy that Kara Dioguardi gave him for his high score for 26 belly flopping points was amazing. Eddie had no idea who she was. After a few test runs of standing on the platform that was very high off the pool and not jumping they finally told me to jump. What you didn’t see was that the pool was only 4 feet deep with a 5 foot drop. If you did anything but belly flop you would hit the bottom of the pool and maybe hurt yourself. For future reference belly flopping hurts your nose the most. My sinuses were unhappy for almost 2 days. There really is no graceful recovery from a belly flop you’re just forced to own the flop. My boob did jump out of my suit in case anybody wanted to know. All in all good experience one of those things I did for the sake of being adventurous.
J Cole Work Out Video
Last week I danced on the new video Work Out for J Cole. It was a long shoot but the best crafty that I have had on a video. However, the night catering wasn’t very good. Drake showed up just to hang out for a few hours towards the end of the shoot. He didn’t do anything about the icky catering. I wore a blue dress and heels that I had worn to the BET awards 2 years ago. The girls who worked on this video were hands own the best group of videos girls I have ever worked with. They were all loads of fun. Jake Davis directed and most of the crew were females. On rare occasion are there female crew members that are not in the beauty departments. Made for a nice change of pace over dirty, furry crew guys who make bad jokes and ask stupid questions. Kerri whose last name I don’t know but is kind of my hero because she is an executive producer on a lot of projects. She really kept this shoot moving by yelling at the 1st AD to get his shit moving so we didn’t need to extend our permit. J Cole had his homies at the shoot and they were great sports on the long hours. They had lots of questions on how these things come together.

Yes we called the guy with the mouse Jesus hehe
BET 106 & Park Fashion Show with Dominique Ansari
At the world famous muscle beach stages in Venice beach I walked in the Dominque Ansari fashion show. BET 106 & Park has a talent show every year around the country called Blaze the Stage. There was acts going on all day, two of which were fashion shows. Our hair and make up team did a great job keeping our looks intact while on a windy beach. I was really glad I packed lots of clothes because it was cold in the morning and hot in the evening. We did have a serious gawker problem. A random man with a camera came into my make up tent ad started taking pictures inside my face. He truly didn’t think that it would be a bother for him to be in the way and take pictures he didn’t have permission to take. Always tell gawkers off if they are acting out of line tell them. You don’t need to have unnecessary people in your work environment.
Hennessy Black at Planet Hollywood
Best advice I can give on blind networking attempts. Get a drink and hang by the door so you can see who comes in. Be mindful of whats going on and wear a conversation piece. It helps get you photographed, when you stand out from the crowd.
On Tuesday in Las Vegas, Tva Parks and I went out to Gallery Night Club to pop open some Hennessy Black. As it happens I already knew the people we went to go party with. Jey Hall works on music with Veto aka Dr. Dre’s engineer. The world really is just to small. Any how look for more to come with this group we have big plans in the works. Comment on you thoughts on Hennessy Black. I don’t even drink but this stuff is great.
Rachel Mullins Photo Shoot On O’ahu North Shore

Last week while in Hawaii I went all the way to north shore to do a photo shoot. The light was amazing and the water was super warm. Water in California is like standing in a bucket of ice therefore shooting on the beach is not as fun as it looks. Although shooting on Hawaii beaches is pretty rocky and my knees were not happy with me.
I have yet to see the images but I’m happy with the light and wind that day. Expect serious diva shots.
How To Get Out Of a Situation
On set professionalism is the number one thing while working. To ensure you won’t get fired, your agent wont chew you out and maybe you’ll get rehired. Bottom line be professional and take control of you situation. In no way am I saying take any kind of shit of unacceptable conditions. Another top rule, DO NOT cry. Do not cry at all ever and do not call somebody else to handle your problems. Handle everything through your agent. If a situation arises, stepout make a call and explain your side of the story first before anybody can bash your name. Even threatening to call your agent during a problem, may even resolve the issue outright. I worked during a concert once and it went horribly awry and I called told my agent we were leaving due to an unsafe environment and they paid us double. However, we didn’t work for that client again but I don’t think I would have taken the job if they offered it. Handle your own business like a big kid and you come out on top.
As a bottom note, if somebody keeps pushing in an unprofessional way and you have already clearly stated your position make it known. “If you push me again I will bust your damn teeth in”.
Age Of Aquarius LA Fashion Week Show March 2011
During LA fashion week I walked for Kristi Moon the designer of Age Of Aquarius. We started fitting at the venue at 12 pm. Hair was done by the Carleton hair experience sponsored by Bumble and Bumble. I had a fro, it worked out great until I had to wash it out 2 days later. Make up was a little crazy because there were so many designers. When I checked in from make up I had to go get eyelashes my designer approved. This event was surprisingly smooth and organized this show was. All of LA Fashion week is shown in collectives meaning a few designers show at one time. Unlike other markets where only one designer shows at a single times slot.
The backstage area was cramped as usual it over ran out the doors. My show was number 4 in the line up so I didn’t have to wait to long. I ran into a couple other girls I have worked with that were walking for other designers. I was an oldie in my show, made me a little nostalgic of when I first started doing runway when I was 12. I’m no longer the baby at my shows I’m the grandma. Next season I’ll be on the runway with a walker. We didn’t end up leaving the venue till midnight. A 12 hour day for all of 45 seconds on the runway. I do love runway it’s my favorite job. If I could do a fashion show every day I would.
